The lowball message that actually turns into a sale

Something I did not expect: the "is this still available" crowd almost never buys, but the person who opens with a specific lowball usually does.

My read is that a number means they already decided they want it. So instead of ignoring lowballs I now counter once, splitting the difference, and close maybe half of them. Anyone else seeing this?

Same pattern here. A number means they are serious, a question means they are bored.
